Beyond the Harbour, Walking with Sisters: Sydney Part 2

Our base just north of Sydney was perfectly placed for a quick move. Day one and we were off again! Circular Quay, Platform One: destination Katoomba. All aboard for the Blue Mountains!

As always, Two’s Company decided not to hit the tourist bus from Katoomba Station. We made our own way to Echo Point; seeing is doing and we prefer to walk like the locals to truly get the vibe in our senses.
Passing quaint shops with some succulent offerings dressing the windows, we admired the scenery as we made our way to the information centre, right on the edge of the vast wilderness.

View after view, stunning scenery laid out before us. This bush wilderness is spectacular. The sheer size and scale filled our viewfinders, but capturing the true magnitude was unbelievably impossible.

The eucalyptus trees, present in their thousands, emit tiny oil droplets. These particles interact with dust and water vapour, scattering blue wavelengths of light.

The resulting blue mist caressed the peaks, making it instantly clear how this massive, camera-unfriendly landscape earned its name.

The Three Sisters, the Prince Henry’s Cliff Trail walk, the Katoomba Falls and the lookouts along the way, all were majestic.

Our final memories of the day in Katoomba were of parrots in trees or strutting their stuff quite at ease with the attention of humankind close by.

It was the perfect, vibrant close to a day trip spent walking the earth in the company of sisters as have so many before us!
