New Horizons Continued

New Horizons continued

As we approach mid-February, our thoughts drift back to our incredible journey through Dubai, Bali, New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. However, the abrupt end to our travels and missing Sri Lanka weighs heavily on our hearts. The devastation caused by Cyclonic Storm Ditwah which formed on November 26, 2025, making landfall near Trincomalee on November 28 and bringing torrential rain across the island through early December was truly heartbreaking.

Colombo, our intended destination, was particularly hard hit by the floods and landslides which ravaged the lowlands. Reading about the loss of 643 lives, 183 people still missing and over 2.2 million affected left us deeply saddened. When the government declared a nationwide state of emergency on November 29, the very day of our scheduled flight, the decision to cancel our trip was inevitable.

It simply wouldn't have felt right to visit a country grappling with such immense suffering and hardship, made worse as this was Sri Lanka's worst flooding in decades, with over £1.3 billion in economic damage (based on exchange rates at the time).

Our hearts went out to the people of Sri Lanka as they faced overwhelming challenges and we knew that staying away was the most respectful and compassionate choice we could make during such a difficult time.

Now, Twos Company are thrilled to finally be making the trip! We are flying off from Manchester in the very near future, first stop Doha, before heading to Sri Lanka to reunite with our old friends Jeevantha and Upeka.

We hope you’ll climb onboard again as we head off to experience the final stage of our new horizons tour which began some four and a half months ago!
