As we board the train and say goodbye to Ljubljana and Slovenia we look back with mixed feelings, mostly due to some inclement weather and a poor choice in accommodation.
Arrival on Wednesday and our initial feeling, which hasn’t changed, is that, Ljubljana is a fabulous place! Busy, stunningly pretty and an ambiance that was welcoming and inviting.

The cafe bars that run along the bank of the river are bustling with people, conversation and laughter.

The weather on Thursday was atrocious and braving the walking tour saw our first soaking of four that day.
On Friday we made the journey to Lake Bled. The 6km stroll around its shore was peaceful, the scenery at times stunning. The view across to the church on the little island was lovely with the mountains as a backdrop, and although covered in cloud with snow rolling down to the tree line, we could only imagine what the scenery would be like when fully exposed in sunlight and with a blue sky.

Lake Bled is very much worth the train ride to visit, although the trains seem to run late as a norm as the infrastructure is out-dated to say the least. One thing that surprised us was the number of people who just wander across the tracks with little or no concern for the possibility of being squashed by a train; well a train that never seems to arrive!

That said, the train trips through Slovenia have been beautiful with green valleys stretching for miles.
So onward to Zagreb and Croatia.

No such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing…..saw that in a shop window of the Lakes district England all those years ago 😂
You've got used to the sunshine. That looked like one of our downpours..familiar weather then...🙄😄..the little church looks lovely with the lake and the mountains. So picturesque...Slavenia a new experience by the sound of it, but a nice one, if a wet experience at times. On to pastures new! 😊❤️ T & G
