Malmo

We had no idea what to expect of Malmo but on arrival mid-afternoon the sun was beating down, always a good start.

Wide streets greeted us along with a pleasant mixture of new and old buildings as we made our way to the accommodation.

Our afternoon was spent strolling through wonderful parkland where people lazed, ate and drank with friends or even partied to thumping music, everyone enjoying the weekend in their own particular way.

The old part of town had stories to tell of saints and the link to the pilgrimage of St James on the Camino de Santiago.  Again there were huge squares for public gatherings, celebrations and markets, etc.

Malmo has a vibrancy but there seems to be an edge to it, as the evening drew in, security appeared around the cafes and squares in a way we hadn’t noticed on our travels to date.  Nevertheless, the atmosphere was party-like possibly there was an excitement for Eurovision; then again possibly not?

Meet the griffin "Torg" as we called him... in Gustav Adolfs torg.

Malmo is worth a visit for a short time!
