I can’t help but think of the glorious evening as we left Helsinki behind, the sunset was stunning as we sailed across a pond-like Baltic Sea.

The sail into Stockholm through the estuary that went on and on, scenic beyond words as our mini-cruise from Helsinki slowly came to an end.

From the moment we arrived in Sweden, Stockholm swept us off our tired feet, an abundance of history and culture; here we found a nation clearly passionate about yesterday but with a real perspective on tomorrow. Wondering how much it has changed since @SJStyles last visited.

Modern buildings blend into the old and the old is celebrated and traditions continue. Stockholm is a cosmopolitan city proud and purposeful, you can see it, hear it and feel it.

Bustling cafe bars amid tree-lined avenues and exquisite little park areas where people meet and spend time, the sun was shining and warm which added to the late afternoon drinks after-work culture. Stockholm in the sunshine wooed us and no doubt we’d consider a return one day.

However, Sweden, we move on to test you further as we board the train to Malmo. German train strikes loom and these now test our (Helen’s) forward planning, as Berlin possibly becomes a city unreachable within the timescale.
Malmo here we come!

Good luck with trains and those scenes are beautiful also cheers James
I expect Stockholm has changed since I was last there: more cafés and bars, in particular. The Palace guard looks much the same- long hair and not quite as polished as those in London but the Swedish guards are doing their national service! The ferry ( a very large ship to be called a ferry, and looks as if they still have ice-breaker bows) is amazing and your sail through the islands to Stockholm looks as blue and calm as mine was. I hope Malmo (can't do the accent dots) is enjoyable and the journey back to Europe. Slainte mhath!
