After a long day travelling, a late running train, some miscommunication and missing our train in Bologna (never seen platforms that long!) we finally arrived an hour late in Trieste, our last Italian stop before Slovenia. We dropped off our bags and made a quick dash for yet another pizza, this one, half a metre in length! (James decided he was very hungry.)

After a good night’s sleep in a well-run youth hostel and a reasonable breakfast, we decided to head into town to have a look around before taking our connection to Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Trieste is another place of surprises, somewhere we had only decided to stay over for convenience. This is a vibrant, bustling port town with lots of interesting buildings and architecture, full of history and lots of pavement bars and cafes.

Our morning in Trieste was well-spent and a lovely arriverderci to Italy.

I love the look of that pizza and the buildings are beautiful. Blake just arrived in England a few days ago. Playing cricket in Shelley.
That's not just a pizza it's a bluming great big pizza.
