Zargreb

After a missed connection due to a late running train, we spent 3 hours at Dobova station in the middle of nowhere waiting for the train to Zagreb. It finally arrived over an hour late!

After depositing our bags at our lovely accommodation (B&B Concept) we had a good wander around Zagreb.

There are a lot of small museums dedicated to some interesting topics: Hangovers, Broken Relationships and Mushrooms to name but a few! Unfortunately, due to the earthquake of 2020, many of the main buildings were damaged and are currently undergoing repairs.

There are a number of fountains and statues throughout the city, the pedestrian areas have some lovely bars and cafes where we sampled some of the local beers; highly recommended! We finished off our evening by eating at a local restaurant “La Štruk” which served a typical Croatian dish called štrukli, a bit like lasagne with layers of pasta/dough with cheese sauce and a choice of fillings.

We opted for red pepper and pumpkin seeds. Different! Delicious and filling.

After a wander around Zagreb this morning in the drizzle, we are now on the train to Budapest.

Accommodation looks lovely...bet you were glad to get there...late trains...long wait wondering if the train would arrive at all..must have been a bit worrying in the middle of no-where..😳😕...but finally Zagreb looks very interesting...I was wondering who the fella leaning on the post with J was? 🤔..looks a bit standoffish to me..the silent sort..🙄😃.. statues look impressive, especially the gold against the grey sky...weather looks bit cooler, meal looks...quite filling and warming.😊🥰🥰T & G

An Irish pub - bet the Guinness isn't as good as in Dublin! Your B&B looks great and the city sounds interesting. Who's the dude that James is leaning against? 🤔 😊😊

August Šenoa apparently a life size statue of the famous Croatian writer dude. Apparently looking at the street on which he was born.
